I have developed, with the help of T and a few other intellectuals, a personality typing system. The system was developed while at church on Christmas Eve in Davis, CA. Instead of worshiping our Lord Baby Jesus, we were stereotyping the people of the congregation.

The system consists four groups, or personalities: Metro, Farmer, Hippie, and Scientist.

There are two sliding scales: Metro-Farmer and Hippie-Scientist. A person would generally fit somewhere along the two scales, and if near the middle, then they would exhibit a joint type. For example, someone who likes to dress nice while plowing the field, would be a joint Metro-Farmer.

Here is a description of the types and typical personality attributes associated with them.

Metro - This is a ‘metropolitan’ person. The individual appreciates high fashion, frequents trendy hot spots, and is familiar with celebrity gossip. This person generally lives in urban areas or large cities, has a middle- to high-powered job, and doesn’t take no crap from nobody. Favorite things include: talking on a cell phone, new clothes, and being seen at the new club. Famous Metros include Madonna, Derek Jeter, and Paris Hilton.

Farmer - This individual likes being outside, living a simple life, and spends a lot of time with family or a few close friends. The Farmer is generally a polite person, but can sometimes be rough around the edges. This person prefers small towns, quiet nights, and going to bed early. Favorite things include: meat and potatoes, trucks, and sitting on the front porch. Famous Farmers include Larry the Cable Guy, John Deere, and the ranch wife from the first City Slickers movie.

Hippie - Hippie types are characterized by a love for the Earth, generally more art-related talents, and a struggling sense of fashion and personal grooming. An individual with a dominant hippie personality will fight to the death for what they believe in and tell you they have an open mind when, in all likelihood, they don’t. Favorite things include: organic foods, protesting, and seeing how long they can go without baths. Famous Hippies include George McGovern, Joan Baez, and Cheech & Chong.

Scientist - The Scientist is best known for his/her overwhelming analytical ability. This person is able to do math in their head and will catch your poor grammar and tease you about it. The Scientist generally believes fact over instinct and suffers from below-average eyesight. Someone with a strong Scientist personality is a hard worker and is driven by results. Favorite things include: puzzles/logic games, test tubes, and calculating Pi out to 100 digits. Famous Scientists include Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, and Marie Curie.

The system is in the early stages of development, but if you have any worthwhile suggestions, leave a comment, and I’ll be sure to include your name as an acknowledgement when Princeton University asks me to write a book.

Since starting this whole blogging thing in May, I have come in contact with several interesting people. I am working on a Links section for blogs that I frequent, but have had other pressing things to do instead. For now, here’s a list of a few of them:

I’m Just Saying
Late For the Sky
Duck Deluxe
We Are Three
And of course, Dooce

My wife introduced me to Dooce.com a while back and I find it fun and well written.

I’m Just Saying is a fun read as well and Susan covers a lot of random topics, kinda like me here at PurpAnd. Also, she seems like a genuinely nice person, read this.

David over at Duck Deluxe is a new blogger, like myself, and he shares my sarcastic sense of humor and annoyance with the world. I may be a little biased though because he and I may have gone to the same high school.

There are two writers at We Are Three, a husband and wife combo - Amy and Jonathan (Jonathan is the husband). Their writing is very playful and they often post about their 4-year old son, Thomas, who is a riot. Check him out on Wii.

Through a few more of my loyal readers, I was introduced to Johhny B over at Late For the Sky. We are related, sorta, in that his niece was one of my wife’s bridesmaids at our wedding. His writing is very clever, funny, and original. Plus, he’s a fan of Fight Club so there’s no way I can be a hater. One of my favorites is his post about Jesse Jackson, the Reverend.

Just wanna say thanks for keeping me entertained you guys.
