I have the natural talent, and sometimes super-annoying ability, to see the brighter side of things. It’s often pointed out to me that I see the world with a glass half full perspective. My wife, my friends, even my boss recognizes this characteristic.

I like that I am this way. In a world where it’s so easy, and often cool, to be negative, I am the Yin to the Yangs in many of my personal relationships. I am contrarian to the negativity and it allows me to be a generally happy person.

This is not to say that I can’t be down on some stuff. I’m still in touch with my realist side. I still complain about some things, I still get annoyed with people, and I am aware of what the economy is doing to me personally - especially since I’m working less, saving less, and stressing more about running a household. But look what that allows me - I can eat at home with my family more often, I have more time to write for this blog and my new one, and I’m able to read more books and about current events and important stuff like that. I will say one benefit, however, to taking the glass half empty perspective - with lower expectations comes less disappointment. Look at the Danes.

I understand to some of you this outlook is disgusting. Why do I always water down the negative feelings held by others with my sickening happy side? Well, let me apologize and say that I can’t really help it, it’s just me.
