Did I jinx myself or talk myself into getting sick? The past two days have been a struggle, as my stomach has not let me stray too far from a bathroom. Fear not, however, cuz I feel I am on the upswing now.

Now I know the mind is a very powerful thing. And I believe that if you think you are getting sick, you will sometimes ‘think’ yourself into being sick. But the other day when I wrote that post, I didn’t think I was getting sick. I was just discussing what I had learned. Some of you may argue that it was enough just that I was talking about it, that my post got my subconscious into that mode, but in this particular instance, I don’t agree.

You see, three of my friends were visiting from Houston. They left on Tuesday morning (I last saw them Monday evening) and I got word on Wednesday that two of the three were ill. Four hours later, I had the same symptoms.

The medically inclined readers out there may help me out with this one. I have been debating whether this was food-related or if it was a contagious stomach bug. My friends and I shared a meal on Monday, but none of us had the same dishes, except chips. And given it was nearly 48 hours before I felt sick, I am leaning away from food poisoning.

Which leaves the contagious stomach bug… In which case, I hope I have done a good job keeping my distance from people. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

As a general principle, I do believe in mind over matter, but this time… I think it was matter over mind.

I’d like to hear your thoughts… medical, philosophical, pyschological, or otherwise. Feel free to leave a comment if you’ve got something to add.

Well, I could bring you some chicken soup…but it would be cold by the time it got there. Just know that I’m sending you hugs and love of the chicken soup kind and hugs to wrap you in healing warmth. Love, Mom

Well…you DID invite comments…and since I read your website…I figured I would oblige. Hope you’re feeling better soon!
