I’ve been ‘off the grid’ for the past couple days due to an exam I had to take today. I took yesterday off work to cram and was out today to take the state license exam for general appraisers. What that means is basically once I passed the exam, I would be recognized by the State of California as a licensed appraiser who can value any kind of real estate.
I am pleased to announce that I passed the exam! I was given eight hours to finish, but needed only a little over half that (because of my awesomeness). I walked out of the testing room and was given my results right away - a freshly printed letter stating I passed the exam and can submit an application to the State to upgrade my puny little trainee license to a full-fledged certified general appraiser license.
This had been 4+ years in the making and after 300 class hours, 4,000 work experience hours, and an increase in the requirements thrown at me in 2008, I’m finally here. I can’t say whether I am more excited about what I’ve accomplished or just that it’s finally over. It’s probably a bit of both, but the hard part is over, I can go about my business with only continuing education to worry about.
This makes two licenses acquired in as many months. In April I became a licensed life insurance agent on my way to becoming an investment adviser/financial planner. My hope is to work both careers simultaneously, and if my luck continues, I’ll be a licensed securities agent (stock broker) by the end of 2009. I’ll let you know how that goes.
That’s all… I just wanted to share my joy with you folks. Talk soon.
